| THE EVOLUTION OF AN INDUSTRY BENCHMARK The original Hydra Model-8 enjoyed an unprecedented five year term as the industry's professional reference, used by the most noteworthy film and recording studios, electronics manufacturers and media critics. When the idea of a no-compromise Hydra model was brought forward, several years of research determined a number of areas where design refinements would yield dramatic results. The original Hydra V-Ray was designed to deliver optimum visual and sound resolution to the recording industry's finest film, recording and playback systems. The Hydra V-Ray wasted little time in supplanting the Hydra Model-8 as a designed-to-extremes Reference power-line product. IMPROVING UPON PERFECTION -- THE HYDRA V-RAY VERSION II Improving upon what has long been widely regarded as the professionals' reference for power distribution is a delicate equation. Adopting the same systems design approach used to improve its other seminal products, Shunyata Research fundamentally and systematically improved the performance of the Hydra V-Ray by modifying core elements within of the unit, including a new and superior ZrCa-2000 noise reduction compound and a greatly improved SR-V2 filter array. The Hydra V-Ray Version II will deliver the full measure of wall current to any complete high current demand system, and is intended to be the reference used by those who use a single AC line for their entire systems. The Shunyata Research designed SR-V2 filters eliminate and isolate noise generated by the audio/video components themselves and protect the components from power-line surges and transients from just a few volts up to one-thousand volts! The Hydra V-Ray Version II retains all of the ground-breaking qualities of the Hydra Model-8 Version II including the improved SR-V2 filter technology. After many years of research, capacitive filtering technology has been taken to the extremes of integrated performance with the advent of Shunyata Research's own SR-V2 filter technology. The SR-V2 series-array within the V-Ray Version II is a proprietary 24-element capacitive array designed and tuned to extend the Hydra philosophy to its outer limits of performance. The Hydra V-Ray Version II includes a refined power-distribution buss system. Made from pure CDA-101 copper, The new buss system improves resolution by reducing eddy-currents and waveform reflections that otherwise contaminate resolution of fine detail..  The Hydra V-Ray Version II remains the ultimate expression of Shunyata Research's passion and unending search for musical truth and perfection.UPDATE Both the Hydra 8 VII and the Hydra V-Ray VII have a new, far more complex and effective version of the patented FeSi-1000 compounds called ZrCa. This new compound is a very dense material that adds about 5 -- 10 pounds of weight to each unit. The new compounds significantly improve the overall performance of both units, increasing perceived detail and improving spatial and recorded hall information in recordings, as well as visual resolution in video. The V-Ray VII also has a completely new, massive filter network inside its inner chassis with greater capacity for noise filtration. Both units have other small changes to aspects of their internal design but these are the fundamental differences.
