INFORMATION REGARDING NEW PRODUCTS< POWER CORDS AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

Hydra V-Ray VII and Hydra 8 VII Updates
Both the Hydra 8 VII and the Hydra V-Ray VII have a new, far more complex and effective version of the patented FeSi-1000 compounds, called ZrCa. This new compound is  a very dense material that adds about 5 -- 10 pounds of weight to each unit. The new compounds significantly improve the overall performance of both units, increasing perceived detail and improving spatial and recorded hall information in recordings, as well as visual resolution in video.

The V-Ray VII also has a completely new, massive filter network inside its inner chassis with greater capacity for noise filtration. Both units have other small changes to aspects of their internal design but these are the fundamental differences.

Shielded Series
Venom -- 12 gauge
These power cords are intended to convince skeptics and critics that power cables can be a vital part of any home entertainment or professional recording system. They will also win strong confidence in our company’s mandate to manufacture the finest quality power distribution systems. Do not be fooled by their low price. They are an exceptional high-performance product -- especially on any source, pre-amp, video display or projector.

For systems with only stock power cords, replacing those with all Venom power cords is a very profound example of their effectiveness. Also, replacing any stock power cord on a projector, flat screen or any video display will be VERY convincing. Combining the Venom power cords with a Hydra 2 is even more compelling. Using the Venom’s in Video systems has great advantages because so many people believe their eyes more than their ears.

Venom Application suggestions: Projectors, Plasma, LCD, CD, pre-amp, analog, stock power cord replacements for any component, even amps.

DiamondBack Platinum -- 12 gauge
This power cord has the same advantages and applications as the Venom power cord. Better performance because of dual shielding. Slightly higher end applications  are possible. Mainly for video, pre-amps, analog sources etc. We often recommend the DiamondBack  for pre-amps, video or phono even in expensive systems that may use more expensive CX models for digital sources and amplification. They are a great compliment for low current components and offer a way to trim costs when powering an entire system with more expensive power cords elsewhere.

Copperhead -- 10 gauge
A heavy gauge, budget alternative for amps and Hydra-to-wall applications. The Copperhead is not necessarily better than the Venom or DiamondBack for video, source or analog components, but it will serve as a great downstream (high-current) power cord in an all Venom or DiamondBack system.

Keep in mind that for Hydra-to-wall applications, the power cord chosen should be at least the equal in size and quality to any power cord going to an individual component. Ideally, the power cord feeding current to the Hydra from the wall should be the best and largest gauge power cord in the system. The more components pulling current through the Hydra, the more important the cord to the wall becomes.

Matching the proper level power cord to the Hydra must take into consideration the goal of the system, how many components are running through the Hydra and budget. The choice of power cord is critical to the performance you receive from the Hydras. For example, video only applications often require only a Venom power cord to and from the Hydra. Reference music or recording applications that  have 7 or 8 components including an amp or two going through a Hydra 8 should have the largest and best quality power cord the customer can afford.

Should you have more than one dedicated line, separating the amplifiers on their own line, with or without a separate Hydra, is always preferable to running everything off of a single AC line through a Hydra or any other power distributor.


Our NEW CX power cord models:
All of these models represent a fundamental advance in our patented Helix braid technology. Instead of the more simple hand braided conductors, the CX series are made with an intricate machine-weave. For example, our previous Anaconda Helix power cord had 17 hand-wound conductors. The new Anaconda CX has 480 tightly braided conductors with the same geometry. The improvement in performance is quite dramatic -- even in the lowest price SideWinder you can experience dramatic sound improvement that even the previous Anaconda Helix could not deliver.

As you go up in price, each CX power cord becomes larger and as the braid becomes more complex, the performance becomes more profound. There is a performance gap between the System 1 power cords (Viper and SideWinder) and the System 2 power cords (Python and Anaconda)  that exceeds their difference in price. Beginning at the Python level, the power cords are stripped of their internal wire insulation. This opens up the sound even more with Python, Anaconda and King Cobra models. However, the SideWinder and Viper models may be the most popular because of their incredible price to performance ratio.

Helix CX Series
System 1:
SideWinder Helix CX -- 12 gauge 130 conductors
Tremendous performance almost anywhere in the audio, recording or music system. SideWinder CX is perfect as the upstream counterpart to the Viper power cord. SideWinder is best used with all sources, pre-amps, digital, analog etc. The SideWinder is a perfect match upstream in a system with one or two larger gauge Viper power cords for amps or Hydras.

Viper Helix CX -- 10 gauge -- 200 conductors
Reference caliber performance anywhere in a sound or recording system. Viper is the perfect amplifier or Hydra power cord when applied in a system that has SideWinder power cords on sources, pre-amps etc. However, the Viper can literally be used anywhere, and for entire systems.

Note: Both the SideWinder and Viper models have a narrow conductor profile making them easy to route into small openings. However, they are both somewhat stiff because of the insulation type used and offer some resistance to bending and twisting. They CAN be bent at any angle and are not sensitive to being twisted so there should not be a problem getting them to conform in most applications. Both models lay out flat easily and can be looped and draped with ease so with a little space behind any rack or out on the floor their installation should not present any major problem.

System 2:
Python Helix CX -- 9 Gauge -- 280 conductors
The Python represents a fundamental performance advance over Viper and SideWinder. The Python has always been a top seller because it offers state of the art performance that is far beyond its price. This power cord is so advanced and complete in its performance it will set a new standard compared to any cost no object model of another brand. The Python can be used as a perfect system partner with the Anaconda CX. Pythons can be used with all components, or they can be used on sources, pre-amps etc with the Anaconda CX used for amplifiers and from Hydras to the wall for the ideal reference system.

Anaconda Helix CX -- 7 gauge -- 480 conductors
Of course, this power cord is an ultimate reference for any and all components in a state of the art music or sound system. It can be used for all reference components, or as amplifier/Hydra power cord in a system with Pythons on sources and pre-amps. It can also serve as the source and pre-amp power cord in a system that uses the massive King Cobras on amps and Hydras.

Note:  The Python, Anaconda and King Cobra  CX models are extremely flexible and easy to install.

The Design Reference:
King Cobra Helix CX -- 5 gauge -- 600 conductors
This power cord is possibly the largest gauge power cord in existence. Its mass and weight make it ideal for use with amps and from the Hydra to the wall in a cost-no-object system -- but it is also a reference for CD replay. It can be used anywhere but because of its weight, there may be some strain relief measures needed when connecting it to components higher up in the rack. Supporting its body on a lower shelf in a rack system would be a common way to keep the weight of the cord from pulling on components near the top shelf.

The King Cobra was a design exploration to determine what was possible in performance. Despite its mass and weight, the King Cobra measures with minimal inductance and will never sound, slow or heavy. Because of the intricate braiding, it behaves more like a light ribbon and has tremendous upper octave resolution, speed, timing and clarity. Everybody, whether in the market for a top power cord or not should listen with the King Cobra in any system just to hear what is possible at the extremes of this CX Series design.
